AN EMPIRE GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE "MARS" MANTLE CLOCK, BY BOLLE, ROUEN, EARLY 19TH CENTURY,

cast as the classically robed Mars standing on stylized rockwork with one foot raised while he adjusts his winged sandal near his caduceus, over a circular dial with a twist reeded bezel framing an engine turned dial and black Roman chapters, enclosing Breguet hands above twin key escapements and signed "BOLLE A ROUEN," reversing to a pierced door opening to the brass clock works with domed bell covering the backplate numbered "481," over a rectangular stepped base with leaf tip band decoration and raised on scrolling foliate feet. Height: 19 1/2" Width: 12 1/4" Depth: 5 1/2"     

Condition:

Good condition for antique clock of this age, materials and use including but not limited to normal surface buildup throughout, some gilding wear, lacking pendulum and tip of caduceus.
