AN ELEGANT LOUIS XV STYLE ORMOLU MOUNTED EBONY AND EBONIZED WOOD REGULATEUR, 19TH CENTURY,

the tête de poupée form bonnet with a scrolling molded coquilles mounted crest centering a "C" scrolled acanthus pendant, above a glass-domed and bronze molded bezel opening to a white enameled plaques dial enclosing black Roman hour chapters and Arabic five minute numerals, centering delicate reticulated gilt metal hands over twin key escapements, verso hammer strike bell brass clockworks stamped "563 / 20 ‣ 8 / H," suspending a steel rod and brass disc bob, exterior flanked by curling acanthine cast mounts over an arched base with foliate bronze decorated splayed supports and trimmed in conforming entre-lac modeled encadrements, on an arched violin form longcase with a congruent hinged door enclosing a maiden's mask and foliage pendant, above shaped leaf tip encadrements and an oval window framed by shell and gadrooned "C" scroll modeled bronzes within acanthus leaf-wrapped rounded sides, raised on a similarly decorated waisted rectangular pedestal base and conforming plinth with "C" scrolled rocaille and foliage detailed mounts. Condition:

Good condition for regulateurs of this age including but not limited to normal age cracks on ebony veneers which are thick veneers, some inactive worming on ebonized wood, restorations, re-gilding, and expected surface buildup. This clock case was probably restored towards end of 20th century and the brass clockworks are polished and oiled. Simpson Galleries does not guarantee any timepiece or clock mechanism.
