A FRENCH CONSULAT BRONZE MOUNTED MAHOGANY DINING TABLE, CIRCA 1800 AND 20TH CENTURY,
the extendable oval top with rounded edges above an unadorned recessed frieze, raised on tapering square form legs surmounted by block capitals partitioned by bronze fillets and ending in conforming bronze sabots on casters, includes three later additional leaves. Good condition for French dining tables of this age, use, and materials including but not limited to normal marks, scratches, dings, edge nicks, light fading, restorations, old repairs, two legs (of four) from central underside are possibly replaced but consistently follow the older legs and are difficult to tell apart, the three additional leaves are 20th century and are darker. The frame is sturdy and at some time in the distant past, this table was restored.
