Overview

Featuring works from the collection of the late art historian, curator, and lecturer David Brauer. The first in the series will highlight key paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures from David E. Brauer’s collection. Prints by artists working during the British Pop Art movement including Derek Boshier, Allen Jones, Peter Phillips, Joe Tilson, Richard Hamilton, and Clive Barker, in addition to American artists Vija Celmins, R.B. Kitaj, Eduardo Paolozzi, and Christopher Finch. Texas artists Malinda “Honey” Beeman, Charles Schorre, Richard Stout, Dick Wray, Dorothy Hood, and Earl Staley. A large number of featured works were recently exhibited in “AN ART HISTORIAN COLLECTS: The David E. Brauer Collection” at the Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, Alabama organized by MMA Director Deborah Velders. A number of works were also included in the 2011 exhibition "British Pop Art Prints: From The Collection of David E. Brauer," UAC Gallery, Houston Baptist University.
