Among some of the documents are items written and signed by; Sam Houston, the first elected president of the Republic of Texas, and Dr. Ashbel Smith, the first Surgeon General for the Army of the Republic of Texas. A collection of rare and complicated clocks and timepieces, featuring a very important tall case clock by Peter Stretch, circa 1705. Another highlight of this collection is an early 20th century Handel table lamp with an unusual Bradley & Hubbard slag glass and painted metal shade.
